of 300 lb. hot press watercolor paper mailed to you!

  • Basic watercolor supplies
    • Paints – for this class you will want the basic natural yellows and browns such raw sienna, yellow ochre, raw umber and burnt umber, as well as neutral tint and Payne’s grey (which is fantastic for this kind of work!). Whatever other colors you already have in your paint box are probably fine. I only use tube paints and recommend you go with them if you’re buying new supplies. (I don’t have a preferred brand.)
    • brushes – for this class you’ll need at least one smaller pointed round watercolor brush (size 3 or 4) and one larger pointed round (size 6 or 8).
    • palette, backing board, artist tape or 14-day release masking tape, two water buckets, dropper, etc.
    • pens – Sakura Pigma Micron pens, size 01 to 05, one black and one brown (really helpful for bark)
    • 300 lb. hot press (i.e. smooth) watercolor paper. This paper is great for adding many layers of paint because it will accept a lot of water and resist buckling, and the hot press gives you a lot of control. It’s hard to buy in small quantifies, so let me know if you need it, and I’ll send you enough for the class. Figure on reimbursing me about $7 for the paper and the postage.
