Playing with Fire: Glass Art in the Pacific Northwest

The Pacific Northwest has become one of the country’s hottest areas for glass art. This exhibition combines the most innovative works by glass artists from Southern Oregon and throughout the Pacific Northwest. It unveils a large early work by the late Frederick Heidel, who studied in the Netherlands and taught in Portland for many years. Also on display will be works by Paul Stankard of New Jersey, who has worked with local glass artist James Shaw. The exhibition is organized by curator Victoria Tierney and funded in part by a generous grant from AVK Arts.

Garden Party: Parallel Encounters

Jon Leach and Holly Werner began their painting collaboration the spring of 2011 in a shared Roseburg, Oregon studio. Their combined efforts generated a new visual dynamic resulting from the collision of individual styles and techniques. This exhibition challenges the viewer by creating pictorial experiences in which gestural abstraction combine with contemporary floral motifs.
