PRESENTATION TIMES: 10:30 am to 1:30 pm each day

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Liv’s next series of watercolor classes, Come to the Dark Side, will focus on the principles of working from dark to light in the unusual medium of watercolor. In this five week class students will expand their creative understanding of this medium to dramatic effect.

Guided by Liv Drahos’ extensive experience in teaching both drawing and watercolor painting, participants will learn elements of design, composition and color theory. Students will experiment with the new Legion Black 140# Watercolor paper using gouache, granulating, opaque and shimmering watercolor paints and more for stunning effects!

Come to the dark side and experience some exciting results!

 

Media: Watercolor.

Skill level: Beginners.

Age Range: Adults only.

 

SUPPLY LIST:

Class price includes a $10 supply fee.

(It is not required that students purchase supplies for this class. The museum will be supplying enough materials to participate. But it is recommended artist bring their own supplies and purchase any they believe will enhance their experience of the class and continued artistic practice.)

SURFACES:  1 Sheet Legion Black 140# Watercolor paper, cut in half or quarters (your choice).

BRUSHES:  Any brushes that you are accustomed to using for watercolor painting.

PAINTS:  Bring what you have.  There will be paints available at class for you to try out.

PALETTE:

  • If you already have a palette from previous classes, it will be fine for this one too.
  • If you are planning on a new or an additional palette, choose one with a large mixing area or try a butcher tray to mix paints on or even a white plate.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS:

  • Tracing paper (9×12)
  • Small notebook
  • Two containers for water
  • Paper towels or paint rags
  • A board to support your watercolor paper
  • Pencils, eraser (kneaded)
  • Sponge if you have it
  • Masking tape and or artist tape
  • Pen that will mark on black paper
  • Reference pictures of your choice of subject.

You may want to bring your lunch.  Dessert and beverages will be furnished. 

Bring your brushes, paints, palette, and all the other gear you’ll need to make yourself comfortable and have FUN while you paint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
