Wood is an expressive art media that is often misunderstood or too limited in the general view. The purpose of this exhibition is to expand public awareness regarding the range of wood as an art media. Ten Oregon artists have been selected for their distinctive and individual approaches to wood. Those artists include: Philip Clausen, Thomas Clevenger, Jim Deardorff, Rick Fox, Steve Kuntz, Kenneth Means, Mitch Rolicheck, Charles Tatum, George Vrana, and Terry Woodall.

Native American Basketry of the South Coast

Basketry served many functions in the daily lives of the Native Americans along Oregon’s South Coast. Beyond utilitarian functions it was and is an aesthetic expression of its makers. The art of basketry is practiced today much as it was in centuries past and represents a continuing tradition of the peoples native to the South Coast.

The fishing village of Charleston is one of the best loved and most picturesque parts of the Oregon Coast. It is an artistic inspiration for local artists drawn to marine subject matter and plein air painting. Charles of Charleston, featured artist and exhibition curator, has selected nine fellow artists to participate in this celebration of Charleston and its environs. Exhibiting artists include: Charles of Charleston, Joan Goodman Fox, Sally Rolicheck, Sarita Southgate, Jean Adamson, Dutch Mostert, Nancy Berry, Carol Lee Tucker, Rod Sullens, Hope Sessums, and Curt Hitch.
