Information and Guidelines for participating in CAM's outdoors painting event.

Plein Air Paint Out - Come and 'paint the day' in Coos Bay!
Plein Air painters are invited to participate in Coos Art Museum's Plein Air Paint Out adventure which will be taking place early morning through mid-day on Saturday, July 14, 2007. Participating artists will be located around the Coos Bay area - from the Coos Bay waterfront Boardwalk to the crashing surf of Cape Arago. Click here for location information.

There is NO registration fee for the 'Paint Out', but CAM would like to keep track of participants and be able to provide adequate guide services for those unfamiliar with the local area. If you have no access to the Internet, please contact Coos Art Museum, 235 Anderson Ave, Coos Bay, OR 97420 or call (541) 267-3901 and request to have a 'Plein Air Paint Out' information packet sent to you. Maps with highlighted areas of interest will be provided to artists who pre-register.

Meet the 14th Annual Maritime Art Exhibit Artists Seafood Dinner - starting at 5:00 p.m. RSVP by June 30th 2007!
Patrons will be able to (respectfully) observe the artist at work in the field. The results of the 'Plein Air/Paint Out' event will be brought into CAM at 2:00 pm that afternoon to a fund-raising seafood barbecue and an opportunity for the artists and paying patrons to meet, intermingle and then to auction off the newly created works of art. Participating 'Plein Air/Paint Out' artists are welcomed to provide previously created art works as auction items in lieu of newly created Plein Air works. The auction of newly created Plein Air artwork will benefit CAM (35% = CAM, 65% = artist) and the artists. The newly created Plein Air art is to be signed (personalized for the highest bidder) by the artists. Auction of donated previously created art by the artist will benefit CAM (100% = CAM).

Seafood Barbeque and Art Auction Fundraiser
Following the 14th Annual Maritime Art Exhibition opening, a Seafood Barbeque and Art Auction fundraiser will be held in the Museum’s back lot beginning at 5:00pm. The event will feature a silent art auction, presentation by featured artist Dutch Mostert, live music, draft beer, wine offered by local wineries and food catered by the Coach House Restaurant. Artwork for auction will be a mixture of works by local artists as well as artists presented in the 14th Annual Maritime Art Exhibition. Tickets prices for the Seafood Barbeque are $30 for CAM members and $35 for non-members and can be purchased at Coos Art Museum, 235 Anderson Avenue, Coos Bay or at Gooney’s Sports Bar, 3290 Ocean Boulevard, Coos Bay. A portion of this fee will go to assist the Coos Art Museum in carrying out some of its on-going activities.
