IN MORE DETAIL

In this three-day Colored Pencil Workshop participants will focus on “painting from a point”, using a variety of pencils and surfaces to create dynamic, vividly-drawn paintings. Products used include: watercolor pencils, waxy/oily colored pencils, and even crayon-like wax pastels. Surfaces include: papers, boards and even sanded pastel papers, with techniques that are sure to increase your possibilities. Featuring an abundance of colored pencils and related art materials, this workshop is full to the brim with demonstrations and helpful hints on layering, blending, grating and emphasizing a stunning range of values. Some basic drawing experience is helpful but students of all levels of experience are welcome.

Important notes: Materials required for class are as follows (students will not be required to bring all items listed. The instructor will bring lots of samples of pencils and papers and lots of demonstrator sets to experiment with. A  person could come to class with merely a #2 pencil and still be well supplied): Bristol board, hot press 140# watercolor paper, pencil sharpener, drawing pencils, tracing paper, eraser, cloth for buffing, a set of studio quality colored pencils, blending pencil, blending marker, brushes, tape and drawing board.

Cost for the three-day workshop is $300 for CAM members and $350 for non-members. Registration ends June 15, 2016. For more information contact the Art Education Dept. at (541) 267-3901.
