Realism and Representational Art

Art is often used as way to create an image that is true to something which is real, such as a landscape or portrait. The viewer is lead by the artist to recognize the rendering of a subject in a representational piece of artwork. Realism is a style of art that produces an image that is an accurate representation of an entity. The theme of a piece of realistic or representational art does not however, have to be factual. Many times images are created in the realistic style, but do not exist in reality as they do in the artwork.
