About Coos Art Museum

The Coos Art Museum traces its roots to the Coos Artist League, active since 1950. Early operations were conducted in storefront locations, followed by occupancy of the old Carnegie Library Building near downtown Coos Bay. During this “library period” the Museum began building its permanent collection, and established a reputation for high quality exhibits and educational programs. Throughout this period volunteers were responsible for nearly all Museum operations and functions.

Art Education

Education is a key Museum area of focus. Classes and workshops are held at the Museum.

Art Education is one of the three key areas of endeavor enshrined in the Coos Art Museum’s Mission Statement. Check out our Art Education Schedule for a full list of classes and workshops for children, teens and adults.

Coos Art Museum is the cornerstone of visual arts on Oregon’s Southern Coast.

Through collections, exhibitions and educational programs, we are building an arts and cultural community and promoting the appreciation, understanding and expression of visual art.
